Der Hilux ist bekannt f\u00fcr seine hohe Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit und Langlebigkeit. Wie das japanische Unternehmen erl\u00e4uterte, wurde im Rahmen des Entwicklungsprojekts untersucht, wie diese Eigenschaften beibehalten und gleichzeitig ein neuer emissionsfreier Brennstoffzellen-Elektroantrieb eingef\u00fchrt werden kann.<\/p>\n<p>Der neue Antriebsstrang nutzt Kernelemente der wasserstoffbetriebenen Brennstoffzellen-Elektrolimousine Toyota Mirai. Es folgte eine Finanzierung durch die britische Regierung \u00fcber das Advanced Propulsion Centre, eine gemeinn\u00fctzige Organisation, die die Entwicklung sauberer Technologien und neuer Mobilit\u00e4tskonzepte unterst\u00fctzt. Der Bau des Prototyps begann am 5. Juni dieses Jahres, wobei in einem speziellen Bereich des TMUK-Werks nach den Prinzipien des Toyota-Produktionssystems gearbeitet wurde.
