Ziel sei die Entwicklung kosteng\u00fcnstigerer Zellen f\u00fcr k\u00fcnftige Elektro-Trucks und -SUVs von GM. General Motors will damit der erste Autohersteller sein, der LMR-Batterien in Serie einsetzt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elektroauto-news.net\/news\/gm-lg-joint-venture-ultium-cells-bauarbeiten-batteriewerk-fortgeschritten\">Ultium Cells<\/a>, ein Joint Venture der beiden Unternehmen, will die kommerzielle Produktion der LMR-Zellen in den USA bis 2028 aufnehmen. Die Vorproduktion soll in einem Werk von LG Energy Solution Ende 2027 beginnen. F\u00fcr die Batteriekathoden werden Materialien wie Kobalt, Nickel und Mangan ben\u00f6tigt, wobei Kobalt das teuerste Material darstellt. LMR-Batteriezellen verwenden im Vergleich zu heute g\u00e4ngigen NMC-Chemien jedoch einen h\u00f6heren Mangan-Anteil.<\/p>\n<p>GM verspricht 50 Prozent weniger Teile pro Batteriepaket<\/p>\n<p>Die Lithium-Mangan-reiche Zellchemie soll laut General Motors kosteng\u00fcnstiger sein als nickelreiche Zellen, aber dennoch die Reichweite bieten, die GM-Kunden sich f\u00fcr k\u00fcnftige Elektro-Pick-ups und Full-Size-SUVs des Herstellers w\u00fcnschen. Gegenw\u00e4rtig nutzt GM au\u00dferdem Pouch-Zellen, also beutelf\u00f6rmige Batteriezellen. Durch den prismatischen Formfaktor soll sich die Anzahl der Teile pro Batteriepaket um mehr als 50 Prozent reduzieren lassen, so GM in einer Mitteilung.<\/p>\n<p>General Motors hat inzwischen zw\u00f6lf Elektroautos im Programm und versucht, seine Batteriekosten zu senken, um Kostenparit\u00e4t mit seinen Verbrennerfahrzeugen zu erreichen. Laut Kurt Kelty, Vizechef f\u00fcr Batterien, Antriebe und Nachhaltigkeit bei GM, leiste das Unternehmen<em>\u00a0\u201ePionierarbeit\u201c<\/em>\u00a0im Bereich der manganreichen Batterietechnologien, um gerade bei\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elektroauto-news.net\/elektro-lkw\">Elektro-Pick-ups<\/a>\u00a0hohe Reichweiten, hohe Leistungen und niedrige Preise zu erzielen. LMR-Batterien sollen Kelty zufolge als Erg\u00e4nzung zu den nickelreichen Zellchemien und Eisenphosphat-Batterien betrachtet werden. GM hatte erst k\u00fcrzlich angek\u00fcndigt, bestimmte Elektromodelle in Zukunft mit den vergleichsweise LFP-Batterien zu best\u00fccken.<\/p>\n<p>GM will mit den prismatischen LMR-Zellen\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elektroauto-news.net\/wissen\/was-erhoeht-reichweite-eautos\">Reichweiten<\/a>\u00a0von mehr als 400 Meilen oder umgerechnet gut 640 Kilometern erm\u00f6glichen \u2013 wohlgemerkt in gro\u00dfen Elektrofahrzeugen, w\u00e4hrend gleichzeitig die Batteriekosten\u00a0<em>\u201eerheblich gesenkt werden\u201c<\/em>, wie Kelty verspricht. Der US-Autobauer geht davon aus, dass die Batteriekosten bis 2025 um 30 US-Dollar pro Kilowattstunde gesenkt werden k\u00f6nnen, bislang macht GM aber keine konkreten Angaben zu den voraussichtlichen endg\u00fcltigen Kosten pro Kilowattstunde.<\/p>\n<h2>Auch Konkurrent Ford arbeitet an LMR-Batterien<\/h2>\n<p>Derzeit sind noch keine\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elektroauto-news.net\/news\/technik-elektromotor-aufstellung\">Elektroautos<\/a>\u00a0mit LMR-Batterien auf den Stra\u00dfen unterwegs. Wie Electrive berichtet, forscht GM jedoch schon seit 2015 an Batteriezellen mit manganreichen Kathoden. Bis Ende 2024 habe das Unternehmen Hunderte von gro\u00dfformatigen prismatischen Zellen getestet.
