Sie speichern Energie nicht \u00fcber chemische Reaktionen, sondern elektrostatisch. Doch ein zentrales Problem blieb: Nur ein kleiner Teil der Kohlenstoffoberfl\u00e4che, die eigentlich zur Energiespeicherung dienen k\u00f6nnte, war effektiv nutzbar. Genau hier setzt das Team an der australischen Monash University an.<\/p>\n<p>Wie aus einer\u00a0<a class=\"newslink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41467-025-63485-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Publikation<\/a>\u00a0in Nature Communications hervorgeht, fanden die Forschenden einen vergleichsweise simplen, aber h\u00f6chst wirksamen Weg, die nutzbare Oberfl\u00e4che drastisch zu erh\u00f6hen. Durch eine ver\u00e4nderte W\u00e4rmebehandlung entstand eine neue Materialarchitektur namens &#8220;Multiscale reduced Graphene Oxide&#8221; (M-rGO). Sie basiert auf nat\u00fcrlichem Graphit, das in Australien reichlich vorkommt.<\/p>\n<p>Der Schl\u00fcssel liegt in der extrem gekr\u00fcmmten Struktur des Graphens, die mittels schneller thermischer Behandlung erzeugt wird. Diese Form schafft kontrollierte Kan\u00e4le, durch die Ionen mit au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlicher Geschwindigkeit str\u00f6men k\u00f6nnen. Das Ergebnis ist ein Material, das sowohl hohe Energiedichten als auch eine enorme Leistungsabgabe erm\u00f6glicht. Diese Kombination gilt in der Speicherforschung als besonders schwierig.<\/p>\n<h2>Starke Werte<\/h2>\n<p>In ersten Praxistests \u00fcberzeugten die Superkondensatoren in sogenannten Pouch-Zellen durch Rekordwerte: Energiedichten von bis zu 99,5 Wh pro Liter sowie Leistungsdichten von \u00fcber 69 kW pro Liter. Zudem zeigten sie schnelle Ladezeiten und eine bemerkenswerte Stabilit\u00e4t \u00fcber viele Ladezyklen hinweg. Laut den Forschenden z\u00e4hlen diese Werte zu den besten, die jemals f\u00fcr kohlenstoffbasierte Superkondensatoren gemessen wurden.<\/p>\n<p>Parallel zur Grundlagenforschung laufen bereits erste Kommerzialisierungsprojekte. Das Universit\u00e4ts-Spin-off Ionic Industries produziert die neuen Graphenmaterialien inzwischen in industriellen Mengen und arbeitet mit Partnern aus der Energiewirtschaft zusammen.
