It alleviates the need to plug in your car, which is not a super difficult or time-consuming task. Nonetheless, Tesla has previously talked about automating the task in order to be ready for self-driving technology. If the cars could drive themselves, it would make sense for them to be able to charge themselves without a human needing to plug them in.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, Tesla has favored\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2020\/10\/09\/tesla-robot-snake-charger-not-dead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an automated robot arm<\/a>\u00a0instead of wireless charging to complete this task, but things have changed recently.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year,<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2023\/03\/02\/tesla-teases-wireless-home-charging-station\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0Tesla teased a new wireless home charging station<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 pictured above. The automaker never commented on the situation other than releasing this picture as part of a presentation. However, it did briefly acquire a startup that focuses on wireless charging before selling it back \u2013 not before integrating some of its staff, though.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Tesla has officially confirmed that it is working on a wireless home charging station.<\/p>\n<p>In a Jay Leno video about the Cybertruck, Tesla chief designer Franz von\u00a0Holzhausen confirmed that Tesla is working on the technology:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>We are working on inductive charging. You don\u2019t even need to plug anything in at that point.
