{"id":19465,"date":"2025-01-15T13:40:22","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T05:40:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/battery9999.com\/en\/?p=19465"},"modified":"2025-01-15T13:40:22","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T05:40:22","slug":"toyota-is-exploring-rockets-with-nearly-45-million-investment-in-japanese-launch-startup-chairman-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/battery9999.com\/en\/toyota-is-exploring-rockets-with-nearly-45-million-investment-in-japanese-launch-startup-chairman-says\/","title":{"rendered":"Toyota is \u2018exploring rockets\u2019 with nearly $45 million investment in Japanese launch startup, chairman says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jan 6 2025<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-19466\" src=\"https:\/\/battery9999.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/2025-01-15_133821-300x165.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/battery9999.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/2025-01-15_133821-300x165.jpg 300w, https:\/\/battery9999.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/2025-01-15_133821.jpg 423w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>LAS VEGAS \u2014\u00a0<span id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-1\" class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\">Toyota Moto<span id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><\/button><\/span><\/span>is exploring the development and production of orbital rockets, Chairman Akio Toyoda said Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The automaker, through its \u201cWoven by Toyota\u201d mobility company, is investing 7 billion yen ($44.4 million) into Interstellar Technologies Inc., a Japanese private spaceflight company developing launch vehicles for satellites.<\/p>\n<p>Toyoda, former CEO and scion of the automaker, said there shouldn\u2019t only be \u201cone car company\u201d \u2014 referring to\u00a0<span id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-2\" class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/TSLA\/\">Tesla<\/a><span id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><\/button><\/span><\/span>, whose CEO\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/elon-musk\/\">Elon Musk<\/a>\u00a0also leads\u00a0SpaceX\u00a0\u2014 working on the development of such technologies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are exploring rockets too, because the future of mobility shouldn\u2019t be limited to just earth or just one car company, for that matter,\u201d Toyoda said during a news conference for CES in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>Founded in 2013, Interstellar Technologies has performed seven launches of its small suborbital MOMO rockets, which reached space for the first time in 2019. The startup has yet to deploy a satellite in orbit, with plans to develop the larger ZERO and DECA line of rockets for delivering spacecraft.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota said the company expects to leverage its experience with the mass production of vehicles for the production of rockets with Interstellar Technologies.<\/p>\n<p>In the Japanese launch market, Toyota is taking on Mitsubishi, whose subsidiary Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has developed and launched the H3 series of rockets for JAXA, the country\u2019s space agency.
