Si bien Toshiba tiene 10 proyectos en curso para nuevas centrales el\u00e9ctricas de carb\u00f3n, aumentar\u00e1 las inversiones en energ\u00edas renovables<\/em><\/p>\n

El conglomerado industrial japon\u00e9s\u00a0Toshiba<\/strong>\u00a0declar\u00f3 este mi\u00e9rcoles que dejar\u00e1 de construir nuevas centrales el\u00e9ctricas de\u00a0carb\u00f3n<\/strong>, una vez terminados los pedidos en curso y dar\u00e1 prioridad a las energ\u00edas\u00a0renovables.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cTodav\u00eda tenemos proyectos en curso, pero hemos decidido retirarnos de la construcci\u00f3n de nuevas centrales el\u00e9ctricas de carb\u00f3n\u201d, dijo a la AFP una portavoz de Toshiba, quien confirm\u00f3 la informaci\u00f3n del diario Nikkei.<\/em><\/p>\n

El grupo tiene unos\u00a010 proyectos<\/strong>\u00a0en curso para nuevas centrales el\u00e9ctricas de carb\u00f3n en todo el mundo; y es uno de los principales actores en este mercado. Asimismo, Toshiba aumentar\u00e1 las\u00a0inversiones<\/strong>\u00a0en energ\u00edas renovables como la e\u00f3lica, marina; y en la investigaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo de c\u00e9lulas fotovoltaicas de nueva generaci\u00f3n, agreg\u00f3 la portavoz.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s, este anuncio se produce cuando el gobierno japon\u00e9s estableci\u00f3 en octubre un objetivo de\u00a0neutralidad<\/strong>\u00a0de\u00a0carbono<\/strong>\u00a0para el pa\u00eds para 2050.<\/p>\n

Jap\u00f3n, la tercera econom\u00eda mundial detr\u00e1s de\u00a0Estados Unidos<\/strong>\u00a0(EU) y\u00a0China<\/strong>, fue el quinto pa\u00eds emisor de gases de efecto invernadero en 2018, seg\u00fan la organizaci\u00f3n Global Carbon Project.<\/p>\n

El archipi\u00e9lago japon\u00e9s todav\u00eda depende mucho de los combustibles f\u00f3siles; produce el\u00a038% de la electricidad<\/strong>\u00a0con gas natural licuado (GNL) y casi el 32% con carb\u00f3n. Limita la energ\u00eda nuclear desde la cat\u00e1strofe de Fukushima en 2011.<\/p>\n

Antes de Toshiba, su compatriota\u00a0Mitsubishi Heavy Industries<\/strong>\u00a0tambi\u00e9n anunci\u00f3 recientemente que reducir\u00eda su \u00e1rea de carb\u00f3n para centrarse en las energ\u00edas renovables. En tanto,\u00a0competidores internacionales como la alemana\u00a0Siemens<\/strong>\u00a0y la estadounidense\u00a0General Electric<\/strong>\u00a0han anunciado planes similares en los \u00faltimos meses.<\/p>\n
