M\u00eame aupr\u00e8s d\u2019une station de recharge rapide, il faut aujourd\u2019hui patienter un peu plus de vingt minutes pour faire le plein de la batterie. Mais ce blocage pourrait bient\u00f4t dispara\u00eetre gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une nouvelle technologie de la NASA.<\/p>\n<p>Baptis\u00e9e Flow Boiling and Condensation Experiment (FBCE), celle-ci permettrait une recharge compl\u00e8te en seulement cinq minutes.<\/p>\n<h2>Un dispositif de refroidissement innovant<\/h2>\n<p>Le FBCE est une technologie de refroidissement d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e en collaboration avec l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Purdue, dans l\u2019Indiana. Cr\u00e9\u00e9 dans le cadre de missions spatiales, son r\u00f4le consiste \u00e0 maintenir certains \u00e9quipements \u00e0 la bonne temp\u00e9rature en \u00e9liminant la chaleur. \u00c0 titre d\u2019exemple, l\u2019agence spatiale am\u00e9ricaine cite \u00ab\u00a0<i>les syst\u00e8mes d\u2019\u00e9nergie de fission nucl\u00e9aire pour les missions vers la Lune, Mars et au-del\u00e0. \u00bb<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Comme tant d\u2019autres technologies \u00e0 vis\u00e9e spatiale, le FCBE pourrait trouver des applications sur Terre, et notamment sur les voitures \u00e9lectriques. Ce dispositif de refroidissement pourrait en effet aider \u00e0 supprimer la chaleur g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e par une recharge \u00e9lectrique, et r\u00e9duire ainsi le temps de charge.<\/p>\n<p>Selon la NASA, il est possible de baisser la dur\u00e9e de charge \u00e0 cinq minutes si le chargeur est capable de transmettre un courant de 1 400 amp\u00e8res (les chargeurs actuels se limitent \u00e0 520 amp\u00e8res pour les plus avanc\u00e9s). Le probl\u00e8me, c\u2019est qu\u2019une telle intensit\u00e9 peut engendrer une surchauffe. Et c\u2019est l\u00e0 qu\u2019intervient le module FCBE.<\/p>\n<p>Comme l\u2019explique la NASA,\u00a0<i>\u00ab un liquide de refroidissement di\u00e9lectrique (non-conducteur d&#8217;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9) est pomp\u00e9 \u00e0 travers le c\u00e2ble de charge, o\u00f9 il capte la chaleur g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e par le conducteur porteur de courant. \u00bb\u00a0<\/i>Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette technologie, on peut faire passer\u00a0<i>\u00ab un courant 4,6 fois sup\u00e9rieur \u00e0 celui des chargeurs de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques les plus rapides actuellement sur le march\u00e9, en \u00e9liminant jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 24,22 kilowatts de chaleur. \u00bb<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9quipe dirig\u00e9e par Issam Mudawar de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Purdue a \u00e9galement mis au point un c\u00e2ble de charge capable de fournir 2 400 amp\u00e8res de courant, soit presque deux fois plus que ce qu\u2019il faut pour r\u00e9duire le temps de charge \u00e0 cinq minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Enfin, la nouvelle technologie semble prometteuse.
