Un consortium europ\u00e9en vient de r\u00e9aliser un progr\u00e8s significatif, \u00e9largissant les possibilit\u00e9s pour l\u2019\u00e9lectromobilit\u00e9.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019une batterie lithium-m\u00e9tal \u00e0 \u00e9lectrolyte solide haute performance a \u00e9t\u00e9 annonc\u00e9 par le consortium\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.solidify-h2020.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.solidify-h2020.eu\/\">H2020 SOLiDIFY<\/a>, coordonn\u00e9 par imec et regroupant 13 partenaires europ\u00e9ens.\u00a0<strong>Le prototype de cellule<\/strong>, fabriqu\u00e9 par imec dans le laboratoire d\u2019assemblage de batteries \u00e0 la pointe de la technologie d\u2019EnergyVille en Belgique, pr\u00e9sente des caract\u00e9ristiques remarquables.<\/p>\n<p>Un \u00e9lectrolyte solide unique distingue la batterie, \u00e9labor\u00e9 conjointement par imec et ses partenaires, utilisant un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 innovant de \u00ab\u00a0liquide \u00e0 solide\u00a0\u00bb.\u00a0<strong>La densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique atteinte s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 1070 Wh\/L<\/strong>, surpassant largement les 800 Wh\/L des batteries lithium-ion les plus performantes actuellement sur le march\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Processus de fabrication innovant<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>L\u2019innovation se caract\u00e9rise particuli\u00e8rement par son processus de fabrication. Celui-ci s\u2019av\u00e8re \u00e0 la fois \u00e9conomique et adaptable aux lignes de production existantes de batteries lithium-ion. Une telle caract\u00e9ristique laisse entrevoir la possibilit\u00e9 d\u2019une commercialisation viable des batteries lithium solides pour l\u2019\u00e9lectromobilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Une dynamique globale de r\u00e9duction des \u00e9missions de carbone et de lutte contre le changement climatique favorise l\u2019adoption croissante des\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.enerzine.com\/les-vehicules-electriques-une-solution-durable\/140430-2024-06\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1945\">v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques<\/a>\u00a0(VE). Cependant, les exigences en termes d\u2019autonomie accrue et de temps de charge r\u00e9duits soulignent le besoin persistant de batteries haute performance.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019aspect \u00e9conomique ne peut \u00eatre n\u00e9glig\u00e9 parall\u00e8lement. Les batteries repr\u00e9sentent actuellement pr\u00e8s de la moiti\u00e9 du prix d\u2019un VE. Par cons\u00e9quent,\u00a0<strong>les mat\u00e9riaux utilis\u00e9s dans la conception des batteries<\/strong>\u00a0jouent un r\u00f4le d\u00e9terminant, tant pour leurs performances que pour leur accessibilit\u00e9 financi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Technologie des batteries \u00e0 \u00e9lectrolyte solide<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>L\u2019utilisation d\u2019un mat\u00e9riau \u00e9lectrolyte solide caract\u00e9rise les batteries \u00e0 \u00e9lectrolyte solide, \u00e0 travers lequel les ions circulent pour charger et d\u00e9charger la batterie. Cette approche diff\u00e8re des batteries lithium-ion conventionnelles qui emploient un \u00e9lectrolyte liquide.<\/p>\n<p>De multiples b\u00e9n\u00e9fices potentiels sont offerts par cette technologie. On peut citer notamment une densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique sup\u00e9rieure et une moindre sensibilit\u00e9 aux incendies. Au niveau des mat\u00e9riaux, l\u2019introduction d\u2019une fine anode en lithium m\u00e9tallique associ\u00e9e \u00e0 un composant \u00e9lectrolyte solide suffisamment mince permet d\u2019obtenir la densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique accrue de la cellule.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Le projet SOLiDIFY<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Le d\u00e9fi majeur r\u00e9sidait jusqu\u2019\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent dans l\u2019\u00e9laboration d\u2019une architecture \u00e9conomiquement viable pour une production \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle. Une r\u00e9ponse concr\u00e8te \u00e0 cet enjeu est apport\u00e9e par le projet SOLiDIFY.<\/p>\n<p>Des sp\u00e9cifications techniques impressionnantes sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es par le prototype d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par le consortium SOLiDIFY. Une densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique exceptionnelle de 1070 Wh\/L a \u00e9t\u00e9 atteinte par la cellule en sachet, fabriqu\u00e9e dans le laboratoire de pointe d\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/energyville.be\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/energyville.be\/en\/\">EnergyVille \u00e0 Genk<\/a>\u00a0en Belgique. \u00c0 titre de comparaison, les technologies\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.enerzine.com\/batteries-lithium-ion-la-solution-viendrait-elle-des-dechets-photovoltaiques\/141599-2024-07\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1946\">lithium-ion<\/a>\u00a0actuelles plafonnent \u00e0 800 Wh\/L.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-145411\" src=\"https:\/\/www.enerzine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/arti_145409_1.webp\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.enerzine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/arti_145409_1.webp 1000w, https:\/\/www.enerzine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/arti_145409_1-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.enerzine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/arti_145409_1-768x432.webp 768w, https:\/\/www.enerzine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/arti_145409_1-750x422.webp 750w\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" data-pin-no-hover=\"true\" \/><\/figure>\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Le processus de fabrication constitue un aspect particuli\u00e8rement prometteur. Celui-ci s\u2019effectue \u00e0 temp\u00e9rature ambiante, s\u2019adapte aux lignes de production existantes de batteries lithium-ion et devrait co\u00fbter moins de 150 euros par kWh.\u00a0<strong>Ces caract\u00e9ristiques laissent entrevoir un potentiel de transfert industriel abordable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Composition et structure de la batterie<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Un mat\u00e9riau nanocomposite \u00e0 base de liquide ionique polym\u00e9ris\u00e9 (PIL) dop\u00e9 est utilis\u00e9 pour l\u2019\u00e9lectrolyte solide du prototype. Cette composition permet une approche unique de solidification \u00ab\u00a0liquide \u00e0 solide\u00a0\u00bb. La combinaison d\u2019une cathode composite \u00e0 haute capacit\u00e9, s\u00e9par\u00e9e d\u2019une fine anode en lithium m\u00e9tallique par un s\u00e9parateur \u00e9lectrolyte solide mince (50 \u03bcm), a permis d\u2019obtenir la haute densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, aboutissant \u00e0 un empilement compact de cellules de batterie.<\/p>\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1254144,1054730\/enerzine_com-banner-1_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<p>Les d\u00e9fis li\u00e9s \u00e0 la r\u00e9sistance m\u00e9canique et \u00e0 l\u2019impr\u00e9gnation de la cathode ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 surmont\u00e9s par le consortium. Ces am\u00e9liorations ont permis d\u2019augmenter le taux de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.enerzine.com\/comment-une-charge-initiale-rapide-peut-doubler-la-duree-de-vie-des-batteries-lithium-ion\/143526-2024-09\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1947\">charge<\/a>\u00a0de la cellule \u00e0 3 heures et sa dur\u00e9e de vie \u00e0 100 cycles. Une inflammabilit\u00e9 r\u00e9duite est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e par la cellule solide thermiquement stable par rapport aux \u00e9lectrolytes liquides, am\u00e9liorant ainsi la s\u00e9curit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019utilisation de cathodes NMC pauvres en cobalt a \u00e9t\u00e9 rendue possible par l\u2019application de rev\u00eatements protecteurs nanom\u00e9triques. Cette innovation r\u00e9duit l\u2019impact environnemental tout en offrant une capacit\u00e9 sup\u00e9rieure.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Perspectives futures<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Une mont\u00e9e en \u00e9chelle suppl\u00e9mentaire de cette technologie de batterie haute performance est pr\u00e9vue dans les prochaines \u00e9tapes du projet. Imec vise \u00e0 augmenter continuellement la densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et la puissance des technologies de stockage d\u2019\u00e9nergie. Des recherches sont \u00e9galement men\u00e9es sur les mat\u00e9riaux de cathode de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration et les anodes en lithium m\u00e9tallique utilisant l\u2019\u00e9lectrod\u00e9position.<\/p>\n<p>Selon Philippe Vereecken, directeur scientifique des technologies de stockage d\u2019\u00e9nergie chez\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imec-int.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.imec-int.com\/en\">imec<\/a>\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Le consortium SOLiDIFY a d\u00e9montr\u00e9 qu\u2019une batterie lithium-m\u00e9tal \u00e0 \u00e9lectrolyte solide haute performance peut \u00eatre fabriqu\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 \u00e9volutif et \u00e9conomique. Nous pensons que cette technologie a le potentiel de transformer profond\u00e9ment le march\u00e9 des batteries pour l\u2019\u00e9lectromobilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Le consortium SOLiDIFY rassemble 14 partenaires, dont des centres de recherche tels qu\u2019imec\/EnergyVille (Belgique), Fraunhofer (Allemagne), Centro Richerche Fiat SCPA (Italie), et Empa (Suisse), l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Hasselt\/EnergyVille (Belgique) et l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de technologie de Delft (Pays-Bas).
